Alex de Minaur is through to second round at the Australian Open after a gutsy performance overnight.

The 22-year-old fought back to defeat Lorenzo Musetti in four sets, 3-6 6-3 6-0 6-3.

During his on-court interview, de Minaur said he believed his attitude throughout the match played a big part.

“The most important thing is, I stayed positive throughout the entire match,” he said

“Positive vibes only for 2022. Basically, I’m not allowed to get negative on court.

“So if you guys see me negative on court – make sure to tell me off.”

Fellow Aussie Nick Kyrios also cruised through to the second round, with a 6-4 6-4 6-3 victory over Liam Broady on Tuesday night.
