Victoria and New South Wales have again posted their deadliest days of the pandemic with 21 people passing away from Covid-19 in each state over the last 24 hours.

It comes as Victoria reports another 40,127 infections overnight, as hospitalisations climb to 946.

112 of those are in intensive care, with 31 requiring ventilators.

Of the new infections, 21,693 were detected from PCR tests and 18,434 were reported from rapid tests.

In New South Wales, another 34,759 cases were recorded overnight now that rapid tests are able to be logged online.

2,242 people are now in hospital around the state with 175 people in the ICU. It’s not clear how many people are on ventilators.
